Project
Consultancy for the evaluation of the effectiveness of fire and gas detection systems
Client
West Engineering
Scope
Verification of coverage for existing flame and gas detectors at of four pipeline compression stations using the methodology outlined in the ISA TR 84.00.07 Technical Report, employing the Detect3D software. Based on the existing philosophy, the calculation of fire and gas detection function availability was developed, and the level of existing risk reduction was determined. With the existing level of risk, changes in philosophy, number of devices and location were proposed to achieve the coverage objectives and recalculate coverage, availability and risk reduction until the desired risk reduction objective was achieved. This process aims to reduce false alarms and increasing the reliability of the fire detection system at each station.
Project
Analysis of impacts using PHAST and quantitative risk analysis (QRA) for individual risk assessment.
Client
Worley Colombia
Scope
Modeling of impacts caused by events associated with thermal radiation, dispersion of flammable vapors, and overpressure for eighteen (18) failure scenarios in a Crude Distillation Unit U-001. This was done using the PHAST 7.2 modeling tool from DNV-GL. Additionally, individual risk calculations were performed for the same 18 scenarios, in collaboration with the client and asset owner. These activities were carried out within the framework of the conceptual engineering development for the interconnection of crude oil plants at the Cartagena Refinery (IPCC), owned by Reficar.
Project
Technical consultancy and equipment information response analysis for a mass notification system.
Client
Civalco
Scope
Technical consultancy and analysis of equipment information response for a mass notification system (Voice Notification), fire & gas fire detection system and extinguishing system; for the Castilla II and Acacias stations, owned by Ecopetrol. Development of design bases, calculations, philosophies, datasheets, specifications, planimetry and reliability calculation for both stations.
Project
Water hammer study
Client
SNC-Lavalin (Ahora KENT Colombia)
Scope
Water hammer study of the works for the detailed engineering for the increase of injection 170 KBWPD in Campo Rubiales Module 2 of the Rubiales Regional Vice Presidency of Ecopetrol. Analysis of pressure, velocity, and wave variations over time in injection water trunklines from transfer pump discharge to injection pump suction during scheduled start-up, scheduled shutdown, and sudden shutdown events. This analysis was conducted using the PIPENET Transient software.
Project
HAZOP workshop for detailed engineering
Client
Grantierra Energy
Scope
Service to conduct a HAZOP workshop for the detailed engineering of the Santana station. Bilingual facilitator (Spanish-English): Conducting bilingual HAZOP facilitation for an expansion design project of a crude storage terminal to identify potential process hazards associated with the expansion engineering. This will be achieved through a systematic analysis of the effects of possible deviations from the design intent or operational difficulties, with the participation of a panel of expert representatives from the designing company, the asset owner, and other invited consultants.
Project
LOPA workshop and development of Safety Requirements Specifications (SRSs)
Client
Worley Colombia
Scope
Workshop for the interconnection project of crude oil plants of the Cartagena Refinery (IPCC) of Ecopetrol. Development of the assignment of the required integrity level to each safety function through a Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and the development of preliminary functional safety requirement specifications for modifications to a crude oil unit.
Project
Calculation of reliability and availability of equipment
Client
SNC-Lavalin (Ahora KENT Colombia)
Scope
Development of reliability and availability calculations over time for three configurations of the boiler water supply pumping system of unit U-031 at the Cartagena Refinery for Ecopetrol. Development in ReliaSoft’s BLOCKSIM 2019 of the reliability analysis to analyze the normal operating modes, global power loss and and out-of-service gas turbines of the boiler feed pumping system to confirm if the repair actions met the requirements specified by the asset owner.
Project
Evaluation of the applicable technical regulation
Client
Icontec
Scope
Technical support for verifying compliance with the technical regulations of Colombia in the pumping and storage facilities of Liquefied Petroleum Gas owned by CENIT, verifying aspects related to process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fire protection, emergency plans, maintenance, and training.
Project
Selected Process Safety Management Studies
Client
Scope
Selected studies from Process Safety Management (PSM) for the construction project of the EP1 production station for Ecopetrol’s southeast hub. Development of Comprehensive HAZOP, Impact Analysis, Individual Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), Operating Window Workshop, and Bowtie Method for the new fluid production receiving and and treatment of production fluids
Project
Fire protection engineering
Client
Capitol Fire
Scope
Update of the fire extinguishing system for the offshore platform Ju’aymah owned by ARAMCO, which included hydraulic studies of firewater lines and analysis of hydraulic transients. The analyses were conducted for both industrial and non-industrial risk areas using Pipenet software, and the results were integrated into the Microstation platform.
